Best Slide-In Induction Range: Fast, Precise Picks

The best slide-in induction range for most kitchens is the GE Profile PHS930YPFS: five induction zones up to 3,700 W, a bridge zone and a true-convection oven. Induction heats a magnetic pan directly. ENERGY STAR puts it at about 85% efficient against 75–80% for radiant glass, and Consumer Reports found high-power induction boils water about 20–40% faster than the best gas and radiant models it tested.

GE Profile PHS930YPFS Induction

The GE Profile PHS930YPFS is a five-zone induction slide-in with a 3,700 W Power Boil zone, two 2,500 W zones that sync into one long zone, and a 5.3 cu ft true-convection oven. Yale Appliance recommends it as a 30-inch induction pick, citing GE’s factory service network.

Why it stands out

  • Induction cooktop: five zones including a 3,700 W Power Boil and a synced bridge zone (GE’s figures).
  • True convection with a third element and reversing fan, plus no-preheat air fry through the app.
  • Self-clean with a steam-clean option, Wi-Fi and a soft-close full-width storage drawer.

Good fit if

  • You want fast, precise induction in a true slide-in body.
  • You use griddles or long pans and want a bridge zone.
  • Factory-run service in your area matters to you.

Skip it if

  • Your pans are aluminum, copper or glass — induction needs magnetic cookware.
  • You would rather have physical knobs — the cooktop uses glide-touch controls.
  • Budget is the priority — the Frigidaire Gallery GCFI3060BF is a cheaper induction start.

Yale Appliance’s first-year service data put GE Profile induction ranges at 9.2% (2026 report), close to the 8.7% average it reports for the category.

Best value induction#2

Frigidaire Gallery GCFI3060BF Induction

The Frigidaire Gallery GCFI3060BF is the lower-cost way into induction with a big oven: five induction zones with a 3,600 W boost, a 6.2 cu ft oven with Total Convection, air fry and both self and steam clean. Reviewed named it its Best Entry-Level induction range.

Why it stands out

  • Induction zones with auto pan detection and a bridge-capable left side.
  • 6.2 cu ft oven with Frigidaire’s 3,800 W Total Convection element and air fry.
  • Probe, steam bake and Air Sous Vide modes are listed on the spec sheet.

Good fit if

  • You want induction speed and a large oven without a premium price.
  • You are happy without Wi-Fi.
  • Your opening is a standard 30 inches and your counter lip does not matter.

Skip it if

  • You want a true slide-in that overlaps the counter (see the note below).
  • Fussy touch controls would bother you — Reviewed called them finicky.

Frigidaire markets this as a 30-inch front-control range, and Amazon, Home Depot and Reviewed list it as slide-in. Frigidaire’s own installation guide calls the design “front-control freestanding”: it fits a standard 30-inch opening without a backguard, but it does not have a lip that overlaps the countertop.

Skip it if

  • You want Wi-Fi.
  • You need a countertop-overlap slide-in — the Amazon title itself says free standing.

Switching to induction?

Do the magnet test on your pans first, then pick the zone layout you will actually use.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Do the magnet test

Induction only heats magnetic cookware. Electrolux’s manual says if a magnet clings firmly to the bottom of a pan, it will work; if it clings weakly or not at all, it will not.

02

Expect some hum

Frigidaire and Electrolux manuals say pans can buzz at high settings and a cooling fan may keep running after you switch off. Both call this normal.

03

Check your circuit

Induction slide-ins still need a dedicated 240- or 208-volt circuit. GE lists 40 amps for the PHS930YPFS, and Frigidaire lists a 40-amp minimum for its induction models.

Honest note

Induction is not for everyone. You may need new pans, touch controls on some models can feel fussy (Reviewed said so of the Frigidaire), and anyone with a pacemaker or other implanted device should ask their doctor or device maker first, as GE and Frigidaire advise.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is a slide-in induction range worth the extra cost?

It is if you cook on the cooktop a lot. Yale Appliance says induction usually costs about $500 to $1,000 more than a comparable radiant model. In return you get faster boiling, precise low heat and a surface that stays cooler; ENERGY STAR says induction surfaces stay cool when no pan is on them.

Will my cast iron work on induction?

Yes, cast iron is magnetic, so it heats on induction. Frigidaire calls it good for induction cooking but warns not to slide it, because rough cast iron can scratch the glass. Lift it on and off the zone.

Do induction ranges need special wiring?

They need the same kind of dedicated 240- or 208-volt circuit as a radiant electric range. Rewiring America says induction needs a 240-volt outlet on a 40–50 amp breaker. Switching from gas may also need a new circuit and possibly a panel upgrade.

Are induction ranges reliable?

Yale Appliance’s 2026 induction report put first-year service rates at LG 4.6%, LG Studio 5.6%, GE Profile 9.2% and Bosch 800 13.8%, against an 8.7% category average. These figures come from one retailer’s Boston-area service records.

Can I use an interface disk for non-magnetic pans?

Check your manual. Wolf says interface disks do not work with its induction cooktops, and we found no statement from GE, Samsung, LG or Frigidaire on their slide-in ranges. Buying a few magnetic pans is the safer route.

Is induction safe for people with pacemakers?

Ask your doctor or device maker. GE says its testing does not evaluate pacemaker compatibility, and Frigidaire’s manual advises caution near an operating zone. Medtronic’s patient page lists induction cooktops with a 24-inch distance. This is general information, not medical advice.
