Best Slide-In Electric Range With Air Fryer

The best slide-in electric range with an air fryer is the GE GRS600AVFS: a 5.3 cu ft convection oven with a no-preheat air fry mode, five radiant elements and Wi-Fi. Air fry in a range is a hot, fast convection mode, not a separate appliance. GE says it runs on one rack with no preheat, and you can use a dark sheet pan instead of a special basket.

Best overall with air fry#1

GE GRS600AVFS

The GE GRS600AVFS is the slide-in most kitchens can start with: five radiant elements, a 5.3 cu ft convection oven with no-preheat air fry, built-in Wi-Fi and a removable EasyWash oven tray. Reviewed named it its Best Electric Range, and it sits in our Budget tier on GE’s list price.

Why it stands out

  • Two Power Boil elements (3,100 W and 3,000 W, GE’s figures) plus a center warming zone.
  • No-preheat modes for air fry, frozen pizza and reheating; Reviewed singled out the dishwasher-safe EasyWash oven tray.
  • SmartHQ Wi-Fi for remote preheat and alerts; GE lists it as ENERGY STAR certified.
CooktopRadiant, 5 elements, up to 3,100 W
Oven5.3 cu ft
ConvectionFan convection
Air fryYes, no preheat
ControlsFront controls, Wi-Fi

Good fit if

  • You want a mainstream slide-in with air fry and Wi-Fi without paying induction prices.
  • You are replacing a 30-inch range and want a 40-amp model (GE’s stated requirement).
  • Easy oven clean-up matters more to you than a big oven.

Skip it if

  • You bake on several racks at once — its fan convection has no third element; look at the GE Profile PSS93YPFS.
  • You want the speed of induction.
  • You need more than 5.3 cu ft — several rivals list 6.2–6.3 cu ft.

Reviewed noted that no-preheat modes often need longer cook times, which eats into the time saved. GE sells an optional air fry basket (JXAFTRAY1VSS) but does not require one.

Best with knobs#2

Frigidaire Professional PCFE3080AF

The Frigidaire Professional PCFE3080AF is a radiant front-control range with real cooktop knobs, a bridge element, a 6.2 cu ft Total Convection oven and an included air fry tray.

Why it stands out

  • Physical knobs for the cooktop plus a touch display for the oven.
  • Left bridge element and a 3,200 W right-front element (spec sheet).
  • 3,800 W Total Convection, air fry with tray included, probe and glide rack.

Oven6.2 cu ft
ConvectionTotal Convection (3,800 W)

ControlsKnobs + touch, no Wi-Fi

Good fit if

  • You want knobs and a pro-style look on a radiant cooktop.
  • You air fry often and want the tray in the box.

Skip it if

  • You want Wi-Fi.
  • You need a countertop-overlap slide-in (see the note).

Frigidaire markets this as a 30-inch front-control range, and Amazon, Home Depot and Reviewed list it as slide-in. Frigidaire’s own installation guide calls the design “front-control freestanding”: it fits a standard 30-inch opening without a backguard, but it does not have a lip that overlaps the countertop.

Samsung Bespoke NSE6DG8300SR

The Samsung Bespoke NSE6DG8300SR is a well-equipped radiant slide-in for the money: a 6.3 cu ft convection oven with air fry, precision knobs for the cooktop, two 3,000 W dual elements and SmartThings Wi-Fi.

Why it stands out

  • 6.3 cu ft oven, larger than most 5.3 cu ft rivals.
  • Precision knobs for the cooktop; touch controls for the oven.
  • Wi-Fi with SmartThings, air fry, steam and self clean.

It adds a 3,600 W tri-ring element, a 5.7 cu ft convection oven, an included air fry tray and illuminated knobs. Reviewed named it Best for the Environment.

Why it stands out

  • FreshBake oven-exhaust filter (FOTILE claims over 90% removal of grease, smoke and VOCs).
  • Tri-ring 12/9/6-inch 3,600 W element and a dual 10/6-inch element.
  • Air fry tray included; FOTILE lists 1 year of labor and 3 years on parts.

Good fit if

  • You bake on more than one rack and want even browning.
  • You use a griddle across two elements.
  • You want app control on a radiant range.

Skip it if

  • You need a high-heat self-clean — GE lists steam clean only.
  • You want induction speed — the PHS930YPFS is its induction sibling.

Amazon’s title mentions four radiant elements; GE’s spec page lists five positions, including the 100 W warming zone.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Use one rack

GE’s manual says Air Fry is meant for a single rack. Put a sheet pan on the rack below a basket to catch drips.

02

Add time to countertop recipes

GE says recipes written for countertop air fryers may need more time or a slightly higher temperature in an oven Air Fry mode.

03

Watch fatty foods

LG warns that high-fat foods such as wings and bacon will smoke in Air Fry, and suggests Convection Roast if the smoke is excessive.

Honest note

Air fry in a range is slower and less crispy than a countertop air fryer. In Yale Appliance’s test, wings took about 15 minutes in a countertop unit and 20–25 minutes in GE and LG ranges, and Yale concluded the mode should not drive a range purchase.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How does air fry work in an electric range?

It is a convection mode that uses hot, fast-moving air. GE’s manual describes it that way, with a 300–500°F range, one rack and no preheat. LG’s version adds 50°F to the temperature you enter.

Do I need an air fry tray?

Samsung says its Air Fry tray is required. GE recommends a dark sheet pan or an oven air fry basket but does not require one. LG recommends its supplied tray, or a wire rack in a foil-lined broiler pan. Frigidaire Professional and FOTILE include a tray.

Is range air fry as good as a countertop air fryer?

Not in Yale Appliance’s test. Its countertop unit was quickest and crispiest; mozzarella sticks took about 3 minutes there and 10 minutes in either range. The upside is space: a full oven rack holds more food at once.

Can I air fry without preheating?

On many ranges, yes. GE’s GRS600 lists no-preheat Air Fry, Pizza and Fresh Reheat modes, and Samsung and LG say Air Fry needs no preheat. Reviewed noted that no-preheat modes often need longer cook times.

Does air fry make smoke?

It can with fatty food. LG warns wings and bacon will smoke in Air Fry. Run your range hood, and clean drips from the tray or sheet pan before the next use.

Is air fry worth paying more for?

Only a little. It usually comes bundled with convection, which is useful on its own. If you already own a countertop air fryer, Yale’s results suggest you will keep using it for small batches.
