Best Slide-In Electric Range With Double Oven

The best slide-in electric range with a double oven is the GE Profile PS960YPFS: a 2.2 cu ft upper oven and a 4.4 cu ft true-convection lower oven under a five-element cooktop. Two ovens let you bake a side dish and roast a main at different temperatures. The trade-off, as Consumer Reports notes, is that the upper oven is usually the small one.

Best double oven#1

GE Profile PS960YPFS Double Oven

The GE Profile PS960YPFS splits 6.6 cu ft between a 2.2 cu ft upper oven and a 4.4 cu ft lower oven with true convection, so a side dish and a roast can cook at different temperatures. Reviewed listed it as its Best Double Oven Upgrade.

Why it stands out

  • Two ovens: a small upper oven GE pitches for everyday cooking and a larger lower oven for big meals.
  • Five radiant elements including a 3,600 W tri-ring Power Boil and two synced bridge elements.
  • Wi-Fi, meat probe in the lower oven, self-clean with steam option.

Good fit if

  • You regularly cook two things at different temperatures.
  • You host holidays and want a second oven without a wall oven.
  • You like app control and a probe.

Skip it if

  • You roast big birds or use tall stockpots in the oven — the upper oven is short.
  • You want a storage drawer — the double oven replaces it.

GE’s product page lists 6.6 cu ft; the brand’s Quick Specs PDF says 6.7 cu ft.

Best flexible oven#2

Samsung Bespoke NSE6DG8550SR Flex Duo

The Samsung Bespoke NSE6DG8550SR has one 6.3 cu ft oven that becomes two when you slide in the Flex Duo divider. It pairs illuminated precision knobs with a 3,600 W element, a triple element, air fry, Wi-Fi and an included griddle.

Why it stands out

  • Flex Duo divider turns one big oven into two cavities when you need them.
  • Radiant cooktop with a 3,600 W Express Boil element and a 6/9/12-inch triple element (Samsung’s figures).
  • Illuminated knobs, Wi-Fi, air fry and Air Sous Vide; griddle included.

Good fit if

  • You want two ovens sometimes and one big oven the rest of the time.
  • You like knobs that light up when an element is on.

Skip it if

  • You clean the oven often with the divider in — a Samsung Flex Duo manual for an earlier model says self-clean and steam clean cannot run with the divider in.
  • You want factory-run service — Yale says Samsung service is still a work in progress, so check local reviews.

GE JSS86SPSS Double Oven

The GE JSS86SPSS is GE’s plainer double-oven slide-in: the same 2.2 + 4.4 cu ft split as the Profile PS960, true convection in the lower oven and no-preheat air fry, without the Profile’s Wi-Fi and glide-touch controls.

Why it stands out

  • Two ovens, with true convection in the larger lower cavity.
  • Five radiant elements, including a 3,100 W Power Boil and a 12/9-inch element (GE’s figures).
  • Steam clean and no-preheat air fry.

Good fit if

  • You want a double oven and do not need app control.
  • You cook side dishes and mains at different temperatures.

  • You need a high-heat self-clean — GE lists steam clean.
  • You want reviewer coverage before you buy — we found no editorial review.

Tips

Three things that make the difference

01

Use the small oven daily

GE pitches the PS960’s upper oven as an everyday oven that preheats quickly, and keeps the big lower oven for large meals.

02

Plan the outlet

GE says double-oven models need a flush-mount outlet and must avoid a specific zone at the back of the opening. Check the install guide before the electrician comes.

03

Know your cleaning cycle

A Samsung Flex Duo manual says self-clean and steam clean cannot run with the divider in, so take it out first.

Honest note

A double oven gives up the storage drawer, and the upper cavity is short. If you mostly roast large birds or bake tall breads, one big oven may suit you better than two small ones.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is a double oven range worth it?

It is if you often cook two dishes at different temperatures. AJ Madison lists the pros as two temperatures, no mixing of odors and a small upper oven that preheats faster, and the cons as a higher price and more surfaces to clean.

How big are the ovens in a double oven range?

On GE’s PS960 and JSS86, the split is 2.2 cu ft upper and 4.4 cu ft lower; GE’s product page lists 6.6 cu ft in total. Samsung’s older Flex Duo NE63T8751 split its 6.3 cu ft into 3.4 upper and 2.7 lower.

Can a turkey fit in the lower oven?

We found no manufacturer rule linking cubic feet to turkey size. GE’s Turkey Mode, which uses the probe, covers birds of 12 to 20 pounds. Measure your roasting pan against the lower oven’s interior dimensions in the spec sheet.

Does a double oven use more electricity?

Not necessarily. A small upper oven heats less space for everyday cooking. EIA’s survey found homes that cook with electricity use about 290 kWh a year for it on average, whatever the range type.

Do double oven slide-ins have a storage drawer?

Usually not. GE lists no drawer on the PS960, because the second oven takes that space. Plan somewhere else for sheet pans.

Is Flex Duo the same as a double oven?

It is a single oven with a removable divider. Samsung says the NSE6DG8550SR becomes two cavities with the divider in. Take the divider out and you have one 6.3 cu ft oven.
